Pokémon Hot Wind Arena Booster Box SV9a
Discover Pokémon Hot Wind Arena, also known as Heat Wave Arena, the ninth Japanese sub-expansion in the Scarlet & Violet series. The set continues Trainer’s Pokémon, featuring cards that highlight the bond between well-known Trainers and their Pokémon.
This factory-sealed box contains 30 booster packs with 5 cards each, totaling 150 Japanese Pokémon cards.
Well-Known Trainers and Their Pokémon
The set features Pokémon belonging to Ethan, Cynthia, Arven, and Misty. The booster pack features three of the Trainers together with their Pokémon, which also appear as Pokémon ex cards in the expansion:
- Cynthia with Garchomp ex.
- Ethan with Ho-Oh ex.
- Arven with Mabosstiff ex.
The base set consists of 63 different cards, in addition to secret cards with higher card numbers.
Release and International Versions
Heat Wave Arena was released in Japan on March 14, 2025, followed by a Traditional Chinese edition on March 28, 2025 and a Korean edition on May 16, 2025.
Cards from the set are also included in the English expansion Destined Rivals. This box contains the Japanese edition.
The name Hot Wind comes from the Japanese name for the Pokémon move Heat Wave.
Designed for Sealed Battles
The set was designed for Sealed Battles, where participants build a deck using cards from booster packs they open during the event.
Official events were held at Pokémon Gym venues in Japan from March 14 to May 31, 2025. Upon paying the participation fee, players received 15 booster packs, one of two possible Nemona promo cards, and a special deck box.
Players built a 40-card deck, using cards from the packs, any amount of Basic Energy provided by the event organizer, and potentially the Nemona promo card. Matches were played with four prize cards, in groups of up to four players where everyone faced each other.
The group winner received a promo pack with one of the following cards: Ethan’s Ho-Oh ex, Cynthia’s Garchomp ex, or Arven’s Mabosstiff ex. The other participants also had a chance to win a promo pack through a final rock-paper-scissors competition.
Previous Campaign with Promo Cards
At the Japanese launch, purchasers of a booster box could receive a separate pack with Feraligatr, Pikachu, and Toxtricity ex, while supplies lasted. The cards featured the three winning illustrations from the Pokémon Trading Card Game Illustration Contest 2024.
Campaign gifts and event prizes are not part of the standard box contents. They are only included if expressly stated at the time of purchase.
